How
Viral marketing is one of those terms that are thrown around by a lot of marketers but is truly understood by a few.  Viral Marketing is simply creating something that is so “sticky” that it is easily spread to others with little or no effort by its creator.  The problem is, many creators do not know how to make their “creation” easy to spread.

First you have to figure out your objective: You are a Blogger who wants more Unique Visitors to your Blog. Now, it’s up to you to create content and tools that make it easy for someone to share your blogs content and URL with others to increase your visitors.  Do you have Stumble and Digg links on every post?  Is your video content shareable like a YouTube video?  Is your domain easy to remember , if it’s mentioned in conversation?

ACTION PLAN
There are simple thing you can do to ensure stickiness.  The first thing you can do is add social media links (such as Digg and StumbleUpon) to every post.  You can add a print option and an email option so your reader can easily print a post or send it to a friend.  You can also add a “Tweet this” link so your post can be sent as a Twitter Tweet.

Another thing you can do is make your Video content permissible to share, and use a video hosting service that facilitates easy sharing.  YouTube can do this very well, but there are a ton of other sites such as Mogulus and Vimeo that can do it as well. Choose the service that you are most comfortable with.

Create free downloads that include “beacons” that refer the user back to your site. An example of this is an eBook with links to “special access” sections to your site with even more free content.  You could allow others to freely spread your downloads by making your downloads GNU compliant.  Always brand your stuff so that when it’s shared people will know where it originated!

Conclusion
No one can tell you what’s going to be viral or sticky.  It’s up to you to make sure that all your content is easily shareable though.  You have to create systems that facilitate easy sharing and spreading your material.  The systems have to be quick and easy –nobody wants to waste time figuring things out – they just won’t share it.  Once you create something that’s a hit, it’s out of your hands – and with the right systems in place you won’t have to worry either!
