How
One of the most frequently asked questions’ that bloggers ask is “how do I increase my site’s rank in Google?”  The simple answer is relevancy.  The more relevant you are to the search query, the higher your rank will be.  There are a few other factors that go into it, but relevancy probably ranks the highest.  The next question is, how do you increase your relevancy?
One of the easiest ways to be considered more relevant to Google is through incoming links.  The more incoming links to your site, the more relevant you are considered.  Since “everyone” is referring to you, Google assumes you have the best content.  The more people that link back to you, the higher up in the rankings you’ll usually end up.

It’s actually not that hard to get a large number of incoming links, if you are consistent and offer good content.  All you have to do is start contacting other bloggers in your niche and simply ask them if they would like to do a link swap.  A link swap, or a link exchange simply is when you agree to link to another blogger in exchange for them linking back to you.  If your content is good, and ask nicely, most bloggers will not have a problem with it.

If you don’t have a Blogroll, now is a good time to start one! You can organize your Blogroll any category or anyway you like.  It also offers a value to your readers as they will be exposed to more quality content when they visit you.  This should help increase repeat visits as they will want to see what new sites you have discovered recently!

Please don’t just contact bloggers solely for the link exchange – you don’t want to look like a shallow “link-whore”!  Participate in their forums, post comments and show interest in their work.  Building relationships with other bloggers in your niche is vital as they often have been through what you are going through and can probably offer good advice and strategies.  They can also refer you to other bloggers that you can link swap with too, that you might have discovered alone!

Link swaps have been a staple of the internet since its inception.  The more incoming and outgoing links that your blog has, the more you are showing your guests that you are up to speed on your corner of the blogosphere.  It can lead to higher search engine ranking (seo), and help you to create friendships with other bloggers.  If you’d like to link swap with me, just leave a comment and I’ll have YOU added to my Blogroll ASAP! ;)
