How

I know that title left you a little curious, didn’t it? No, I don’t literally mean to make an ASS out of yourself, lol! What I mean is that you need to make your ASSistance invaluable to your niche community. You need to make sure you’re the “go-to” guy or gal in your little corner of the blogosphere. Doing so will ensure that YOU are the blog people get referred to above all others.

So how do you become a MASTER Ass? You simply need to be where people in your niche go when they need help. It’s like when cops patrol high crime areas – same principle. You need to be where the fires are so you can put them out! Some questions to research - What help forums are the most popular out there? Who has the most informative comments section? You need to be a member of these communities as well as more mainstream services like Yahoo Answers and offer your assistance as much as possible.

What will soon start to happen is that soon other people will begin referring others to your blog. When their friends or newbie’s ask for help, your name will “pop up” as a helpful source of knowledge. People will start linking to you without your asking and your unique visitors will begin to rise. You will probably see an increase in comments on your own blog; when that happens it might be a good idea to open your own help forum on your blog.

When search engines such as Google spider sites, the more often your name and site URL appear the higher your blog will appear in the search engine rankings. Google will see you as the most relevant solution to the searchers query. Once that happens, it’s almost a domino effect. Because your name appears so frequently as an ASSister, when people type in help questions in the search engine you are more likely to appear. The more people that ask you for help, the higher your credibility and the higher you’re ranking. See where I’m headed now?

It almost PAYS to offer free help and assistance as much as possible. Once you are an “authority” in your niche, the higher the chances that you will be called upon for quotes from the media and consultation opportunities’. Do you think reporters don’t use Google? If you show up as number one in a search they will most likely assume you’re the expert on that topic and contact you for a reference. The more credible you are, the higher your chances of monetizing your blog.

The benefits of being an “ASS” are numerous. The most important besides the name recognition and credibility is the increase in unique visitors’. Unique visitors are the most valuable metric in your world – the more unique visitors you have the more opportunities you have to convert them into paying customers or affiliate referrals. Sometimes you have to give to get, and being an ASSistant remains one of the best methods. One piece of advice though - Don’t bombard your ASS istance posts with links – it looks tacky. You don't want to make a REAL ass of yourself! Your name and ONE URL is sufficient. If you are truly offering good ASSistance people will proactively ask YOU for your contact info!

Start surfing for the help forums out there and contributing and let me know how it’s going!
