Let me begin by saying if you are looking for a comprehensive break down of GoDaddy vs. it’s competitors, this post is not for you. I simply wanted to share my experiences with them and tell you why I believe they are an awesome web services provider. I’ve been happily using them for years and I’m writing this article to tell you why!
They are the Value Leaders
When I was first getting on the web and registering domain names, the only setup in town was Network Solutions and they charged $75.00 per domain!
After getting oWnEd for a few years by them and their gas-like like prices, I found a more affordable registrar by the name of DirectNic. They where a WAY less expensive at the time, their domains where only $15.00 each! I was very happy at the time with the $60 savings per domain but I used to have to use separate sites for web hosting, email, and SSL certificates.
After a few months with DirectNic I started seeing ads for a new discount Domain Registrar named GoDaddy. I remember thinking at the time that the ads looked cheap and it was too good to be true – their domains where only $9.99! After a few more months of seeing there ads and hearing positive reviews on them, I decided to check out their website. They where offering a free one year extension on your domain if you transferred your domain to GoDaddy – I jumped on it!
I was still skeptical about the quality of their service, but right off the bat there the account manager and the overall functionality looked more advanced than DirectNic. After eventually moving all my domains over to GoDaddy, I slowly began moving my hosting accounts there as well. After paying anywhere from $20.00-$100.00 per month over the years at various hosting companies, GoDaddy’s $3.99 basic monthly hosting plan seemed unreal. They had support for PHP, ASP, MySql, email and where generous with the storage. You’re now starting to see why I am such a fan!
I now have graduated to a virtual dedicated hosting, but for beginners I can’t think of anything more cost effective than $3.99 per month for web hosting, especially its backed up by GoDaddy’s awesome telephone tech support team!
They are the Industry leaders
Go Daddy is currently the largest ICANN-accredited registrar in the world, and is three times the size of its closest competitor! They’ve come a long way in a few short years and it’s due to two simple principles: offer a good product at a great price and back it up with some good tech support. In this day and age when large companies seem to forget who brought them to the party, GoDaddy has seemed to have learned from other’s mistakes.  They try to offer products for all your domain and hosting needs, while never raising prices and maintaining quality.
Great Customer Service
Hate to sound like a broken record, but I can honestly say in over 6 years I have never had a bad experience with GoDaddy tech support. Every rep I have SPOKEN TO (yes, unlike most web services you can actually speak to a live person, in America, within minutes of calling!) has been polite, knowledgeable and effective. A refreshing change in this and age, I hope every company took GoDaddy’s lead, I know I will!
They have a funny CEO
Bob Parsons is hilarious. He is the very public and opinionated Founder and CEO of GoDaddy.  He runs a frequently updated blog over at BobParson.Com and he seems to be a guy that is a straight shooter. He’s not afraid of controversy, as seen every year at the SuperBowl, lol. I am a strong believer that most successful companies always should have a strong public face, like Steve Jobs at Apple and Bill Gates at Microsoft.
Conclusion:
One of the first questions friends, family and acquaintances ask me when they want to go online is where to get a domain name and where to get hosting. I decided to write this post so I could answer this question once and for all.  I just referred a friend to them the other day, and $12.00 later he had a domain, hosting for two months and a one-click Wordpress Blog install – that’s what I call service! GoDaddy has done right for me all these years and doesn’t try to break my wallet as I grow my businesses online.
