View Comments Another piece of my childhood is gone... Reading Rainbow has aired it's last episode on PBS today.  Although today was it's official last airing, the last original episode aired in 2006. Apparently, the production company nor the network wanted to put up the money to continue airing it.  No wonder kids these days can't spell:( R.I.P Reading Rainbow... you will be missed!
