Does it really matter? Excuses are just that - excuses. The most important fact is that i'm back -- isn't it? Alright, thats too easy. I can't and I won't totally blow it off just like that. It's actually been a mixed bag of reasons. Part family (birth of a new child, yay!), part work (my rarely spoken upon day job), and part Business (some awesome new sites and web services I'm working on, coming soon from MediaCraft!) and part laziness. Yes, I said it - laziness.
There is no excuse for laziness. As hectic as life has been, I can't honestly say I couldn't squeak out 10 minutes to write out a quick update. God knows I somehow find the time to Tweet and Facebook regularly. The not so funny thing is that one of the last full feature articles I wrote was called "How to Avoid the Common Pitfalls of Blogging". Great advice I gave there, too bad I didn't follow it myself! :( Looking to get back on the bus now, and get this blog on a regular schedule now though!
I'm going to slightly change the focus here as well. It's going to start to take on more of a "me" focus, rather than a tips and tricks site. Partially because I am close to completion of some new blogs that cover a lot of the topics that I formerly covered here (blogging, social media, and marketing for example) and partially because because I want to turn this blog into more of a "hub" to discuss my current projects and ventures. I hope you'll continue to follow me and enjoy the new format. I'll still be offering tips and tricks, but they will be more related to things that I use in my daily life to help me work more efficiently. I'm also going to be doing some case studies to show you how I achieve some of my results so you can apply it to your own blog and business.
That's all i've got to say for now, be sure to check back tomorrow for a new case study, another blog post, and maybe an article on free web business tools that I use in my daily grind. See you then!
Another piece of my childhood is gone... Reading Rainbow has aired it's last episode on PBS today. Although today was it's official last airing, the last original episode aired in 2006. Apparently, the production company nor the network wanted to put up the money to continue airing it. No wonder kids these days can't spell:(
Day One of the 2009 Affiliate Summit East is over and I had a blast! Now I know what I was missing all these years! I've often read other Bloggers and Affiliate Marketers talk about how important it is to conduct face to face marketing and meetups and they are 100% right! The kicker is I got to meet some of my all time favorite "Super Affiliates"!
I attended the "Microniches" session conducted by Dush Ramachandran (@DushR), The Getting Noticed FAST session conducted by Mike Buechele (@mikebuechele), Trisha Lyn Fawver (@trishakyn), Lisa Picarille (@lisap), Personal Branding 2.0 conducted by Stephanie Agresta (@stephagresta) and Sarah Austn (@pop17) and finally the SEO Site Clinic conducted by Michael Gray (@graywolf), "Sugar" Rae Hoffman (@sugarrae), Michael Streko (@streko), Frank Watson, and Chris "Pearsonified" Pearson.
I enjoyed all the sessions, especially Sugarrae's at the SEO Clinic. I even met John Chow (@JohnChow) at the clinic! If you don't know, I won my Gold Pass from John by entering an ASE contest on his Blog. After the sessions I went to the meetup hall and met a few vendors and got to meet John Chow again, Shoemoney, Zac Johnson, Missy Ward, and Loren Feldman!
Hey peeps! Long time no post, I know. I had a shopping experience yesterday ago that was so smooth and efficient that I actually had to take time out of my ever increasing projects to write a post about it. The experience was buying a domain name from Dan Rubin at JustDropped.Com.
Let me begin by letting you know that this not a paid or sponsored review in any form. I was so flat out impressed by Dan's speed and professionalism that I had to give him a plug on my blog. A while ago I was toying with the idea of being a semi-professional "domainer" - someone who buys domains and sells them at a premium price. So I began to search Da Internets for a good expired domains site, since people drop a lot of awesome names every day. I found JustDropped through a few google searches and signed up for the site newsletter.
Another Productive Day Today (and the weekend too!) for your boy Mike! Managed to get two new "Twitter Of The Day" posts up over @ Tweeplez.Com, finally got approved for about five new Affiliate Networks that had denied me in the past;p and got a TON of work done on my new Affiliate Blog / Coupon Site. I also began work on my new eBook site, and decided to revise my already completed eBook again (Bucks for Blogging), because I MUST include some new info on Affiliate Marketing over the last two weeks that has seen my Affiliate income begin to SOAR.

Had a pretty productive day today for a change! I sweat I have undiagnosed ADD, especially in front of a Computer! I've been reading a lot of books lately on motivation and goal setting and they all seem to have one piece of basic advice to get yourself going - set goals and work on achieving them. Sounds like a no brainer, but if it was that easy we would all be successful at everything we do right? So yesterday i simply created bulleted lists for each site I'm working on in my Google Docs account and worked off of those lists.
My usual day would would entail creating a mental list of things i wanted to do, but i'd get distracted reading emails, tweeting, reading Diggs, and reading other's bloggers posts. Today, by working off the list, i was able to achieve a large percent of my goals and STILL had time left over to tweet, read and check email. So goal setting actually DOES work! I think the key is to create a "strategy day" to plan out your week and then to create a checklist off of that for day to day goals.
My time is limited, because still have a day job, so I desperately need a way to get ahead and keep up with my projects. I'll never reach financial projections playing the catch-up game and exhausting myself in the process. I think i'll create a daily log here on the blog to track my progress as well to FORCE myself into keeping up with my daily lists. In case you where wondering, here's what I accomplished today:
Install and Confgure a phpBB powered forum for MikeWayne.Com
Integrate my Joomla user Registration Database with the phpBB user Database so my registered users will only have to login and register once for both! It worked:)
Tweet two articles from the archives for a little site promotion ;P
Tweet an article from my Pop Culture Blog, Michaelocity.Com, to get some more pageviews to that site - (got 35 extra unique visitors from a single tweet, during a slow part of the day!)
Install and configure Wordpress for my new Affiliate Marketing Blog.
Install affiliate marketing and social media plugins for my new Affiliate Marketing Blog.
Login into my Affiliate Networks to add my new sites, change contact info, and get offers.
Perform some Google Searches to analyze keywords, and landing pages from the "competition".
Normally all those tasks would have taken me a week! So how about you? Any productivity challenges that you'd like to share? Leave a comment and share! You can now also discuss it on my Forums by clicking here!

Got some more new plans and features coming from this blog in the near future, many of which where mentioned in my "Happy Birthday" post. One of the most exciting pieces of news is a "spin-off" blog emerging from this one that will focus more on blogging, affiliate marketing and making money online. What content will be featured here then you ask? You'll see soon! (Working on these projects contributed to the lack of updates lately!) In the meanwhile, I'd like to unveil the all new logo, which will debut with the launch of the "new" MikeWayne.Com....leave a comment and let me know what you think!
I can't believe that this Blog started only a year ago! How fast time flies! Well, I launched this Blog exactly one year ago on my birthday (so yes, today is my Birthday too!) as a personal blog to express my thoughts and showcase my web projects. Little did I know a year later that "I" would be offering Blogging, Social Media and Marketing Tips! It's been a fun year and it's my goal to make the next year even better. This Blog will continue to evolve and improve, and I hope to add even more value and more valuable knowledge for you to add to your toolbox!
